About CMTEQ

Empowering engineers through practical education and knowledge sharing

📖 Our Story

CMTEQ is run by Chad Massala, an Electrical Engineer based in Cape Town, South Africa, and is linked to the CMTEQ YouTube Channel.

The journey began during Chad's undergraduate studies when he noticed a recurring challenge: many students were struggling with fundamental power system topics such as per unit systems and short circuit symmetrical fault analysis.

Driven by a passion to help his peers, Chad started releasing basic tutorial videos explaining these complex concepts in simple, understandable terms. What began as a small effort to help fellow students quickly grew beyond expectations.

🌍 Global Impact

From those humble beginnings, the CMTEQ YouTube channel has since drawn interest from students and professionals all over the world. Today, our content reaches engineers across continents, helping them master electrical engineering concepts and advance their careers.

What We Offer

CMTEQ is a comprehensive engineering education platform focused on making complex electrical engineering concepts accessible through interactive quizzes, in-depth tutorials, and practical resources.

Our content is built around four core pillars, each designed to serve a different stage of your engineering journey — from foundational theory to real-world application:

⚡ Power Systems

  • Load Flow Analysis & Methods
  • Fault Calculations & Short Circuit Analysis
  • Protection Coordination & Relay Settings
  • Stability Studies & Transient Analysis
  • Power Quality & Harmonics

🔧 Electrical Engineering

  • Machine Design & Applications
  • Transformers & Their Operation

Beyond tutorials, our interactive quiz platform lets you test your knowledge with hundreds of carefully crafted questions across all engineering disciplines. Each quiz is designed to reinforce learning and identify areas that need more study.

We also maintain a resources library with downloadable references, calculation tools, and curated reading lists to support your learning.

🎯 Our Mission

CMTEQ exists to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical engineering competence. We believe the best way to master engineering is through active learning — studying concepts, applying them through quizzes, and reinforcing knowledge with real-world examples.

Our mission is simple: make engineering education accessible, practical, and engaging for everyone. Whether you are preparing for exams, studying for professional certification, or refreshing concepts for a project at work — CMTEQ provides the structured content you need to succeed.

👥 Who This Site Is For

CMTEQ serves a diverse global audience of engineering learners and practitioners:

  • University students studying electrical, electronic, or power engineering — especially those preparing for midterms, finals, or comprehensive exams.
  • Graduate students tackling advanced topics in power systems analysis, protective relaying, and embedded systems design.
  • Professional engineers seeking to refresh foundational knowledge or learn new technologies before starting a project.
  • Certification candidates preparing for professional engineering examinations such as the PE exam, FE exam, or local equivalents.
  • Hobbyists and makers interested in electronics, microcontrollers, and IoT projects who want a solid theoretical foundation.

📝 How We Create Content

Every piece of content on CMTEQ goes through a structured process to ensure accuracy, clarity, and educational value:

  • Topic research: Each topic is identified through student feedback, YouTube comments, and common questions we encounter in professional practice.
  • Technical accuracy: All content is developed by Chad Massala, a qualified Electrical Engineer, and cross-referenced against authoritative textbooks, standards (IEC, IEEE, NRS), and industry documentation.
  • Practical relevance: We prioritise real-world examples and calculations over abstract theory, so you can apply what you learn immediately.
  • Peer review: Content is reviewed by fellow engineers before publication to catch errors and improve explanations.
  • Continuous updates: We regularly revisit and update our content to reflect changes in standards, technologies, and curriculum.

If you ever spot an error or have a suggestion for improvement, please contact us. We welcome feedback and take content quality seriously.
